Thanks to all the organizers and sponsors for making the Lobster Run a fantastic weekend. Hurricane-influenced weather certainly made RMTP a great classroom for winch technique on Sunday. Mark from Superwinch said he planned to do a short winch recovery demo around 11am after the morning run. Well, he started early on the trail and didn't stop until 6pm. It was everything I wanted to know about winching and then some.
I also learned that it pays to be able to engage ATRAC + Rear Diff Lock at the same time. The trucks that could do this had a noticeable advantage. I know my next mod... Of course, nothing beats a set of Super Swampers!
As always, the Trail Team was more than patient. They help you safely do a lot more than you think possible in your FJ. Special thanks to Will, who worked very, very hard in the rain to keep our Sunday group moving up the trail that always seemed to have 'just one more' tough spot. We could have turned around (at least, I *think* we could have turned around), but we made it all the way through and had a fun time.
RMTP rolled out the red carpet to us. John and his family were constantly asking if we needed anything. His staff cut some great trails before this event. The views, especially in autumn, were incredible. I'd like to go back when it's a little drier. For a new park, it's off to a great start. RMTP is worth the drive.
